Job Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated individual to join our finance team as an Assistant Accountant. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the accurate and timely processing of accounts payable transactions, supporting the overall financial health and integrity of Brinks Australia. You will report to the Finance Manager.
Responsibilities:
Invoice Processing:
- Receive, review, and process invoices in an accurate and timely manner.
- Verify the accuracy of invoices, ensuring adherence to company policies and procedures.
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies or issues with invoices.
Customer Payment Processing:
- Manage the end-to-end process of customer payments, including posting transactions and reconciling accounts.
- Follow up on overdue payments and work collaboratively with customers to resolve payment issues.
- Ensure accurate and timely application of payments to customer accounts. Verify the accuracy of invoices, ensuring adherence to company policies and procedures.
Expense Reporting:
- Process and reconcile employee expense reports in accordance with company policies.
- Verify supporting documentation for expenses and ensure compliance with expense policies.
Month-End Close:
- Assist in month-end close activities related to accounts payable, including reconciliations and reporting.
Compliance:
- Stay informed about changes in accounting regulations and compliance requirements.
- Ensure adherence to internal controls and financial policies.
Collaboration:
- Collaborate with other departments, including procurement and finance, to address issues and improve processes.
- Support the finance team in ad-hoc projects and tasks as needed.
Preferred Skills / Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Previous experience in accounts payable or a similar finance role.
- Proficiency in using accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
Professional Skills:
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in processing financial transactions.
- Knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
